It’s been a rough couple of months. In October, I found out I was losing my job at the end of the year. I tried keeping up my routine of Around the World books and Classics but I just wasn’t in the mood. I needed light reads to keep me from being depressed.
I caught a terrible cold at the beginning of November and then the election depressed me so I had even less motivation to read serious books.
By early December, I had already bought a one-way ticket to Mexico and was in trip planning mode.
I am now in Mexico. I served in the Peace Corps here so I have been checking in with friends and colleagues and of course reading. Unfortunately, between being social, looking for a job and the work I do for the Reshoring Institute I just don’t have the energy or time to keep up with my book reviews.
Instead… I will be working on my own book! Yes, you heard it here first… I Craisiedaze am writing a book! It has been a work in progress since Dec. 2013 and I am using this “time off” to finish it. It’s going to be be called, “The Craisie Misadventures of a White Girl Around the World”. It’s essentially a memoir of my life, travels and family. I have two goals for the book. First, to motivate women and girls to fight for their dreams and secondly to desensitize traveling. I think there is a lot of fear out there about traveling and I hope that my crazy misadventures will help others see how traveling isn’t as scary as it seems and is actually enlightening and eqalizing.
So where does that leave you? I am still reading and updating Goodreads so please follow me there. My user name is Daisie. I hope to find some time over the next couple of weeks to create a Best Books of 2016 blog so keep checking back. I also hope to update my recommendation pages.
Happy Reading!!
