December 2014 Book Reviews

4-ways-to-help-an-author-2

This is a very exciting month for me because I started the month with some of my favorite authors and characters.  These books make great Christmas books for readers but real fans can’t wait that long! I used the picture above because I believe it’s important to support our authors and I am impressed that my ultimate favorite – James Patterson has pledged over a million dollars to independent bookstores. I don’t have a million dollars but I am doing what I can to support authors!  Help me by sharing my blog so others will read more!

The first five books of the month were also my Top 5!  Gotta love a month that starts like that.

  1. top5Gray Mountain by John Grisham
  2. The Job by Janet Evanovich
  3. Hope to Die by James Patterson
  4. The Cinderella Murder by Mary Higgins Clark
  5. The Escape by David Baldacci

Gray Mountain by John Grisham – (Fiction) A new book for JG that will have you both upset and surprised!  I like how he writes about topics that make you want to take action. I wonder how long it will take him to write a book about Ferguson and the protests that followed?  Great fast read!

The Job by Janet Evanovich – (Mystery)  I LOVE this series and can’t get enough. I love it when supposed bad guys become the good guys and fight for the good. Fast fun read!

Hope to Die by James Patterson – (Mystery) I hated that JP ended the last book with a cliffhanger and he kept you hanging on to that cliff for most of the book.  I couldn’t breathe for most of this book with all of the twists and turns… I hope most of you get to read both at the same time!

The Cinderella Murder by Mary Higgins Clark – (Mystery) A new series MHC is creating based on another book she wrote and I think it’s a winner.  A TV series about cold cases that help the families of the victims. I liked the main characters and their back story and looking forward to more!

The Escape by David Baldacci – (Mystery) I have read several of DBs books but somehow I missed this series and I am so  glad I stumbled upon this one. Another great mystery that will keep you guessing and characters you will fall in love with…and hope they find love too!

The Painted Girls by Cathy Marie Buchanan – (Historical Fiction) I listened to this audibly and found it interesting but a little slow. If you like France, the Ballet and art you will really enjoy this book  but I found it a little blah.

Orchid Beach by Stuart Woods – (Mystery) SW has so many books I read at least one a month since they are usually fast reads.  This is the first Holly Barker book and even though I knew of her through the Stone Barrington books I was still impressed with her and loved how bad ass she is!  Her and her dog named Daisy 🙂

The Princess Bride by William Goldman – (Fiction) After ready Cary Ewes book last month of course I had to watch the movie but then I also wanted to read the book the movie was based on.  I am impressed on how well the movie did in capturing the essence of the book.  Lovers of the movie won’t be disappointed in reading the book!

Blood Magick by Nora Roberts – (Paranormal) Another series I stumbled upon and if you love Nora Roberts, Ireland and witch craft you will not be disappointed. Fast read and not super sexy.  Although I know what happens I am still interested in reading the other ones.
