Changing things up here @Craisiebookreviews!
The New Year is always a good opportunity to start over and do new things. Changing the look of the website is just the beginning…
As I was creating my Top Books of 2015 I realized I read a lot of light, fun books (aka beach reads and chic lit). Those books have comforted me this past year but I feel like I have done my readers a disservice. It’s time to go deep… expand my mind and my reading palate even more…
So this year I have decided to read at least one “Classic” book and one book from “Around the World” per month. Classics are classics for a reason and I have avoided them for too long! I will choose a book to read/listen to from this list: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/classics-to-read. Feel free to leave comments with your favorite classic.
I wish I could take credit for the “Around the World in Books” idea. My sister suggested it based on a TED Talk by Ann Morgan who not only read books from around the world, she wrote a blog and a book about it!! Jealous? YES I am! Regardless, it’s a great idea and I look forward to learning along the way. I know many of these books will make me cry so I am going to mix it up some with my go-to genres. If you are interested in my inspiration check out Ann’s blog: http://ayearofreadingtheworld.com/.
I also decided that my Top 5 books each month will not feature best selling authors. As much as I love James Patterson and Janet Evanovich – they don’t need any more readers. There are tons of unknown authors out there that do need the exposure and I hope to provide them with that. I also hope that this will help my readers find new favorites.
Well here’s to a New Year, a New Look and New Books!! Happy Reading 🙂
I couldn’t pass up the chance to recommend books! For a heartwarming story, check out A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and, if you’re looking for crazy creative, Catch 22 is a winner. Rebecca is also wonderful and just a teensy bit creepy. 🙂
Looking forward to reading this year’s reviews!
