With all the rain that we have had and the fact that my favorite authors released new books I have stayed up later than normal this month.
- The Chase by Janet Evanovich
- NYPD Red2 by James Patterson
- The Undead Pool by Kim Harrison
- The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
- Cress by Marissa Meyer
Dead and Kicking by Wendy Roberts – (Paranormal Mystery) The third book in the crime scene cleaners series and it gets a little more real. The romance between the main characters gets a little tense which adds to the story. Loving this series!
Vampire Most Wanted by Lynsay Sands – (Paranormal) I love this series! It’s a romance but not overly so. The characters are always fun and in this case its a gypsy who travels with a circus. Fast fun reads!
Hot Mahogany by Stuart Woods – (Mystery) Another fast entertaining read. Can’t get enough of this series. Must reads for mystery lovers.
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker – (Historical Fiction) Could also be labeled as fantasy. Based in New York City in 1899 the Golem and the Jinni try to fit in and learn how to survive. Great read!
Beyond the Highland Mist, To Tame a Highland Warrior, The Highlander’s Touch and Kiss of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning – (Historical Fiction/Paranormal) I stumbled across this series by accident and couldn’t put them down. Not the typical fantasy/paranormal/historical romances. They are all based in the Highlands of Scotland but there isn’t one connection between them all. Interesting twists on history and not super sexy. Great fast reads.
Loitering with Intent by Stuart Woods – (Mystery) Another hit from our sarcastic lawyer/detective. This one really keeps you guessing.
The Chase by Janet Evanovich – (Mystery) LOVED it!!! I can’t get enough of this series. This one is action packed and fast and I wouldn’t recommend starting this book before you go to bed. I love the main characters and all the people they gather along the way. I wish they would write more!
The Undead Pool by Kim Harrison – (Paranormal) Another great series! I love Rachel, Jinx and Trent. This book is like watching your favorite TV show and wishing the two main characters would hook up already! This book has it all – magic, sexual tension, mystery and suspense!
The Cable Car Murder by Elizabeth Atwood Taylor – (Mystery) I was reading this to my sick neighbor and really enjoyed the first two chapters but by the fourth chapter I wanted to tear my hair out. It was slow and wordy. I think the author was going through a 12 step program because that’s ALL she talked about it seemed.
NYPD Red2 by James Patterson – (Mystery) I am so glad JP decided to make this a series. Typical JP – fast read, intense and you are cheering for the bad guys (at times). Can’t wait to see where they take this…
About Last Night by Ruthie Know – (Chic Lit) Great beach read. Fun and sexy romance!
Cress by Marissa Meyer – (YA/Retelling Fairy Tales) I listened to this on audio. Part of me was hoping that it would be the end of the series and it would end in Happily Ever After but now I want MORE! Every book introduces new characters and I love how they are all strong female characters and all very different! The narrator for this series does a fantastc job.
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne – (Inspirational) A good friend of mine bought me the audio books because I was in a funk. Great motivational book read by the author and special guests. If you are looking for a book to help you plan for the future than this is it! Helps you reprogram your brain (at least it has for me).
