This was definitely me last weekend. I had finished The Cairo Affair before lunch but needed something to read for lunch so I started The King. OMG…I couldn’t put it down! I had so much work to do but I couldn’t stop reading. It was 551 pages and I read it until I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I woke up the next morning and was on page 521. I finished the book on the BART, eyes filled with tears and all. This month’s Top Five is really hard to choose…so many great books!
- The Boys In The Boat by Daniel James Brown
- Demonic Persuasion by Mahalia Levey
- The King by J.R. Ward
- Biting Bad by Chloe Neill
- The Baker’s Daughter by Sarah McCoy
The Boys In The Boat by Daniel James Brown – (Non-Fiction) If you loved Unbroken then you will love this book. I especially liked it because it would talk about what was going on in Seattle, Berkeley, the Midwest and Germany.
Demonic Persuasion by Mahalia Levey – (Paranormal) WOW! I finished this book in hours – fun, fast sexy read. Keep your significant other near by because you will need some relief after just a few chapters. I love the world Mahalia has created in Hell – who knew demons could love, be vulnerable and have mercy? I can’t wait for the next book!
The Highlander Books (5-8) by Karen Marie Moning – (Paranormal) Finished the series! Loved them all. Sexy men, feisty women and magic. What else do you need?
Still Life With Bread Crumb by Anna Quindlen – (Fiction) Interesting book of an older woman, changing her life and following in love with a man and a dog. I didn’t love it but I did finish it.
The Bootlegger by Clive Cussler – (Historical Mystery) This the 7th book in the Isaac Bell series but a first for me. Based in prohibition days this book follows the main character from NY, Detroit, FL and the Bahamas. Very interesting books, I even needed a dictionary at times to determine what they were talking about at times.
Biting Bad by Chloe Neill – (Paranormal) #8 of the Chicagoland Vampire saga. I like how the relationship is developing but I did see a lot of similarities between this book and how True Blook on HBO. A little suspicious but fun nevertheless.
Sleeping Beauty Series by A.N. Roquelaure – (Erotica) The cover of this books says that if you like “Shades of Grey” you will like this series. Shades of Grey is “Vanilla” compared to this series. Some of it is a little intense.
The Baker’s Daughter by Sarah McCoy – (Historical Fiction) Another awesome book! It bounces back and forth between the present and Nazi Germany. Story of love, heartbreak, loneliness, strength and weakness.
The Cairo Affair by Olen Steinhauer – (Mystery) An intense mystery based during an intense time in Egypt. If you are a history and political bluff you will like this book.
The King by J.R. Ward – (Paranormal) WOW! I loved that the author went back to Wrath and Beth and their story and how it affects the community. I also like how there are other stories and couples developing as well. I was nervous that she was ending the series but it’s obvious that there are many more adventures to come!
Armageddon’s Children by Terry Brooks – (Fantasy) Genesis of Shannara #1 WOW! This was a dynamic introduction to the world of Shannara. There are a lot of different characters coming from many different parts of the US/World but the author ties it all together well. The end of this book is a cliff hanger and I am excited to find out what happens next. I wish I had more time to read!
Bullseye by David Baldacci – (Mystery Short Story) Another Sunday afternoon lunch read. Luckily this one was only 75 pages long or I would have been sucked in! I like how the author brings two series together. Can’t wait for a full length book with the two!
