October 2015 Book Reviews

I-love-books

Most people go home and plop down in front of the TV – I read. I read on my commute, I listen to books as I walk around town and while cooking and cleaning, and I read before I go to bed. I usually have at least 3 books going at the same time. To me books are more interesting than the latest reality TV show. Hell, I don’t even have cable. I watch a little Netflix while I work at night (watching now). I would rather spend the weekend getting lost in a book than going to the movies which leads me to…

I traveled to amazing places this month: India, Laos and Thailand. These trips included many hours in an airplane but I was distracted by Movies on Demand and then I got sick. My commute then consisted of going from the conference room to my hotel room…all of two minutes vs one hour. All of this means I didn’t read as much as I wanted but check out what I did read…

top-5-best-ios-features

  1. About a Vampire by Lindsay Sands
  2. The Scam by Janet Evanovich
  3. Undercover by Danielle Steele
  4. Who Do You Love by Jennifer Weiner
  5. Murder house by James Patterson

Murder house by James Patterson – (Mystery) JP does it again with this thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you love James Patterson you won’t be disappointed.

Rivers of London by Ben Aaronvitch – (Paranormal) I found this series while shopping at Powell’s in Portland, OR and was enticed because it said it was like Harry Potter for adults. Unfortunately, it was a difficult read and it didn’t hold my attention. I didn’t even finish it which is a disappointment but it happens.

Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll – (Young Adult Mystery) WOW! This book was crazy! I couldn’t even believe what I was reading half the time. Full of twists turns and acts that will make you want for more.

The Not-So-Perfect Man by Valerie Frankel – (Chic Lit) After the last book I needed something lighter. Super cute fast read for chic lit lovers!

Unleashed by Cherrie Lynn – (Romance) This book was super cute! Two friends who finally get together and find love. Fun fast read good for the romantic in you.

About a Vampire by Lindsay Sands – (Paranormal) I can’t get enough of this series and I am so glad that grumpy Justin finally found his life mate. If you love Paranormal and Romance you will love this series!

Undercover by Danielle Steele – (Fiction) I grew up with Danielle Steele and haven’t read anything in a while but I LOVED this book. As soon as you meet the two main characters you ache for them to meet and get together.

Go Set a Watchman by Lee Harper – (Fiction) We read this for our book club and it was certainly eye opening into Lee Harper’s world. It was interesting reading their arguments… of course I didn’t agree with any of it but it felt like I needed to know in a sense of “know your enemies”. Sure this book is a little juvenile and unpolished but it’s also powerful and insightful.

Scandalous Seasons by Christi Caldwell – (Historical Romance) Don’t be scared by the title. These books are low key historical romances that have you cheering for the women. If you like books about women who determine their own destiny you will love these books!

The Scam by Janet Evanovich – (Mystery) Fox and O’Hare #4 I can’t get enough of this series! I love all the characters in this series especially the father who loves blowing things up.

Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace by Becky Monson – (Chic Lit) I love how this book leaves you wondering what marriage she is about to break up! Well at least in the first chapter. You know it’s going to happen but you don’t know who. Super fun fast read!

Who Do You Love by Jennifer Weiner – (Chic Lit)  Wow! There was so much of this book that I totally related to. Not knowing my father, not fitting in anywhere, and falling in love young. I couldn’t put this book down!
