Yes, more beach reads this month! It’s summer and reading anything too dramatic just doesn’t seem palatable especially when traveling. In July, I spent time reading by a pool in Eugene, OR, reading on a plane on the way to Bentonville, AR and lastly on the train to Santa Barbara to meet some college friends.
I did get some reading done at that beach in SB but needless to say I didn’t get much reading done because we were too busy swapping stories, reminiscing and laughing. So far it has been a great summer and I am blessed to have more trips planned!
During book club this month one of the girls asked me if reading beca’me a job to me? That a was a great question. I don’t think of reading as a job or even a must do but I am still looking for that next series that totally devours me. A series that makes my heart beat fast (I have a fit bit now so I know), that I can’t put down and makes me feel like I have lost a piece of me when it’s finished. Ideas? In the meantime I am enjoying meeting new authors and reading what I call candy!
- Shopping for a Billionaire Series by Julia Kent
- The Prince Charming Series by JS Cooper
- Dressmakers Series by Loretta Chase
- Capo: a Tale of Life in the Mafia by Michael Donnelly
- The Memory Painter by Gwendolyn Womack
Dead Wrong by Leighann Dobbs – (Paranormal Mystery) If you like light mysteries with a dash of witchcraft, a dash romance and a dash of humor then you will love this book and series. This was a free book offered by B&N and I can’t wait to read more about the Blackmoore sisters!
The Billionaire’s Counterfeit Girlfriend by Nadia Lee – (Chic Lit) Some sense formulaic but no less awesome for a beach read. Fun fast read.
Shopping for a Billionaire Series by Julia Kent – (Chic Lit) The first book was free on B&N and was so funny I not only bought the entire set I waited until I knew I could read it at the pool. This series is seriously LOL funny, sexy, dramatic and AWESOME! The perfect beach read!
The Prince Charming Series by JS Cooper – (Ertica) If you need a little “more” than your normal beach read aka something in the 50 shades category than this series is for you! All I can say is…Be careful what you ask for…
At Any Price by Brenna Aubrey – (Geek Chic Lit) I am an engineer but not a gamer but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand gamers. I LOVED this book for its geekiness and the hustle. I applaud the main character for her ability to hustle and do what she needed to do to get the job done. As an added bonus she found love!
Random Acts of Crazy by Julia Kent – (Chic Lit) This was a random book of craziness that is for sure. Not sure why I didn’t LOVE it but for a free book it was fun, entertaining and certainly made me LOL.
The Wager: A Billionaire Romance by Calista Kyle – (Chic Lit) Typical frat boy bullshit wagers that turn against them. I love it when the woman is more than they thought and this book is a good example of that. Fun fast read where you cheer for the heroine before and after finding Prince Charming.
The Memory Painter by Gwendolyn Womack – (Fiction) If you are looking for something different that makes you feel good but still challenges you then this is the book! It has that science aspect that makes my neurons spin, the romance that makes my heart beat, and the mystery that attracts me. Some people say that the book was too simplified and I would have to agree with that but if you like science and the mystery that surrounds it than you will love this book!
The Seduction of Sophie Seacrest – (Historical Romance) Part of what intrigues me about this type of book is not only what the heroine has to do to survive but be noticed. Most often it’s her brains and her independence. I don’t know if this is true of the time but as an independent woman I would hope so.
Pierced by Sydney Landon – (Chic Lit) Not quite 50 Shades but a fun sexy read
The Dressmakers Series by Coretta Chase – (Chic Lit) I loved this series! It met all my expectations, fun fast read, awesome characters, funny, romantic, and intriguing. If you are looking for fun beach reads I would recommend these!
Any Witch Way You Can by Amanda M. Lee – (Paranormal Mystery) Another small town I would live in…ghosts and all.
Capo: a Tale of Life in the Mafia by Michael Donnelly – (Fiction) WOW! Very well written, so much so I thought I was reading a nonfiction book. I love Mafia books and the stories behind the guys who lead and this book was no exception. You really fall in love with the two main characters.
The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg – (Paranormal) This book started strong especially for all you magic lovers out there but got weird. It lost me in the journey through the heart. I am interested in where the story leads tho so I might check out the next books.
Wicked Charms (Lizzy & Diesel #3) by Janet Evanovich – (Paranormal Mystery) I read this on my way home from Santa Barbara. Fun fast LOL read. If you haven’t read any of this series or Janet Evanovich… I HIGHLY recommend them! Mystery, sex and angst all wrapped up in one book.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon – (Historical Romance/Fiction) This book isn’t as “sexy” as some of the other Highlander books out there but it is crazy intriguing and suspenseful. There is almost never a moment of rest which is good for a book that is almost 1000 pages.
I will read lots of these! Thanks, Daisie!!!!
